The UK hotel industry was worth £19.4bn in 2017, this means keeping up high standards it important, especially in luxury hotels. Décor in any hotel establishment is what guests initially see when they enter, it’s the main feature that is on the frontline for criticism or praise. To give an insight into the life of Luxury Hotels, we researched two independent luxury hotel brands which thrive on providing discreet luxury with high standards of service and hospitality.
The Stafford Collection is an independently owned luxury portfolio of beautiful properties in distinct locations in the UK. With hotels in two different locations, Lancashire and London they’ve been able to identify completely different design styles from each other.
The main dining area within the hotel is called ‘ The Game Bird’, the dining experience within the restaurant is described as a contemporary tale about relaxed, informal dining at any time of the day. The décor is packed with personality, intended to create a casual atmosphere whilst still maintaining sophistication. The theme of the restaurant compliments the location, it’s chic and interesting. Although the food they propose is purely a British cuisine it doesn’t announce that through the choice of décor, they’ve kept it diverse and welcoming to all. For a similar theme to this we suggest using our Nikko tableware, the deepness and high quality of the white tableware will accolade the choice of colours used.
At The Stafford London to complete the dining experience they have “One of the longest surviving American bars in London”, called ‘The American Bar’. With the design style for this room they’ve approached it differently, they’ve created a more intimate feel combined with a clubbing atmosphere and are more focused on providing a perfect setting for conversations. The theme is more vintage than modernized, creating a classical British feel that radiates the room. We suggest using our RAK tableware for a similar theme to this, it’ll blend in well as it oozes with exceptional quality and creative spirit. Something this hotel has done impressively.

Situated in the heart of Lancashire is the Northcote Hotel, a renowned small luxury hotel with a Michelin Star restaurant a part of The Stafford Collection. The hotel is dedicated to ensuring the perfect experience. In their main dining area, the design gives off elegance and sophistication, very much alike The Stafford London but in a different style. Northcote’s decor is simplistic, with warm beige colours and hints of green which say a lot about their location which is not far from the hills of Ribble Valley. They’ve chosen a lighter themed dining area to allow guests the opportunity to take in and appreciate the Michelin Star food, whilst enjoying the lively and chatty atmosphere. We suggest using our JARS tableware, it gives off a nature feel and has subtle colours. Perfect to go with luxury décor like this.
An extraordinary, unique collection of British hotels. Pride of Britain is a not-for-profit organisation representing some of the most luxurious and very best independent hotels in Britain. Most of the hotels they represent are family owned, meaning each hotel has their very own décor style that makes them unique within the Pride of Britain hotel brand.
The Priory pride themselves in being the finest, independently owned, boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant in Dorset. The perfect place to get away from it all and allowing guests to relax and unwind, whilst providing a high standard of hospitality. The Priory’s décor in their ‘ Garden Room’ Restaurant is detailed whilst remaining simplistic and not over the top, they’ve picked colours that don’t clash together and although they’ve chosen a dark colour on one of the walls it hasn’t created a dull atmosphere. The décor makes the dining area bright; the choice of white tablecloths works well with the other colours that float around the room. The design style choice is a mix between modern and vintage looking, the chairs are a distinctive feature in the room and are something you wouldn’t see in most dining areas. We suggest using our Geminiano Cozzi tableware, the styles vary from ancient Venetian porcelain to their modern day total white collections.

Once found, the many delights of the Devonshire retreat unfold. Designed in a traditional William and Mary style with expertly chosen furniture, fixtures and soft furnishings to complete the picture of period perfection. In their ‘ Queen Anne’ Restaurant their décor is classical to say the least, the opposite of the modern décor you see in most hotels nowadays. With minimalistic décor they’ve still created character with picture frames that describe the room perfectly. A dark design style but staying true to the theme of the room, ensuring that the luxurious feel is maintained throughout. We suggest for this themed room our Charingworth cutlery, it encompasses both English and European heritage, reflecting many traditional design features.
